Follow the flow..

Thought long and hard about the topic to blog on. I always feel numb minded whenever I do that. So, decided to just let the words and thoughts flow. Here we go...

After staying for 3 years in Kochi, I moved to Bangalore recently. It's quite a strange feeling now-a-days. I'm happy for the things that are in my grasp now and sad for those that aren't. Can't decide which feeling is more strong. So the final verdict is, "I am feeling as normal as I usually feel".

Hmm...for the starters, the flow isn't bad at all!!! Need to keep it going.

Few more now...

It wasn't my fault that I couldn't bowl googlies of late. Last time when I bowled one, I was not-so-busy professional. A lot has changed after that, project deadlines forced me off from blogging. I kept longing to blog but couldn't get any where near it.

Now that I've seen the last one of those deadlines, I am once again not-so-busy professional. Gearing up to bowl few more of those teasing, tossed up googlies...

Early morning treat

Getting up early in the morning and watching cricket live on telly is somewhere on top of the list, things-i-love-to-do. It is such a wonderful thing to do.

I remember waking up very early in the morning often only to see "Play has been stopped due to thunderstorms/bad light/etc./etc" scolling at the bottom of the telly screen, or hapless scorelines such as India - 73/4.

Today morning I saw New Zealanders struggling at 62/6. Now, how is that for a change?? They finally got out for 279 though and India managed 29/0. Boy, didn't that early morning scoreline keep me happy for the entire day.

Memories: Reloaded

"My 23 year old eyes, stopped blinking as I approached closer and closer to that place. And I went around that place with awe. Every nook and corner had its own tale. After all it was the place where I spent 1 year less than half a decade. It looked much different when I went in. As I walked through the periphery of a big circle, I noticed greener pastures which eluded the place during my stay have come back. "More greener pastures are ahead", I thought.

It took me very little time to reach the other end of the circle. I was standing in the front of a huge verandah covered in the front with glass panes. As I went in through the door I checked if my dress was in the way I wanted it to be. After few moments I made my way in. It was clean inside. There was no sight of any mending work going on. It seems every pillar has been worked upon. This verandah opens up into two corridors in the shape of 'V'.

I took the left corridor and started a long walk towards its end. As I walked, my mind's eye could see the infinite number
of things that happened in that place. I was about to end my long walk when I looked over my left shoulder. I saw big hall with its door wide open. I felt as if it was welcoming me in. I entered the room, and at once saw all of you together. Any guesses  I was??????
I was at our VEC."

Blame it on the year

It's time to remove the calender from its place, dust its surroundings and put a new one in its place. Practically, the same feeling exists with 2008. It has not been a good year particularly for the techies like me. Markets world wide nose-dived into recession. Job markets are in disarray. Companies slowed down the hiring processes, sped up the cost-cutting measures, gave delta-increments, got rid of the bad/excess baggage, emphasised on the "Quality" of the work, brought out the norms that were safely preserved in the cup boards since the previous slow-down.

It has been a terrible year for the country as well, lots of things to ponder about for the policy makers and law protectors. Last few months have really been torrid with unfortunate incidents taking place more often. And after all this, we have a "neighbour", who doesn't waste a chance of rubbing salt into our wounds.

Were there no positives at all in 2008?? Well, there are few, our sports persons made us proud, our countrymen got recognised by the world, few important deals were made by the country, democracy won elsewhere in the nation, many things are still the same as they were and the year will end in few hours, which in itself is the biggest positive of all.

On this positive note, let's say "Good bye 2008. Welcome 2009".

How do they do it??

I always wonder how novel writers, manage to write tens of chapters, hundreds of pages and thousands of paras. What makes them write so much? What inspires them? What creates thought in them? How do they start their work? How do they go about their work? Well, for a novice like me these are certainly huge questions.

I often read that they take months, sometimes years together to complete a work. It must have been quite an effort, but well worth when it is completed. No wonder they call it "the art of writing". Also a small incident such as dog barking on the road, wind blowing through the half-open window, sound of a pin drop inspires them. Wonderful ways to get inspired isn't it?

There are two kinds of writers; people who write on or about the incidents and the others who stir up their imagination and create a world around the reader and make him a part of it, make him understand it, take him for a ride in it, make him forget about his surroundings. I can only imagine how difficult and how wonderful the latter is.

Although, I am not an avid reader of books, I admire the feeling that gets generated when I bury my head into the book. Imagine how satisfied a writer would have felt after the completion of a work.

Having written this much on writing itself......I am actually feeling very good.
